Biography Music Composer and Producer Wernher Pramschufer is a highly experienced and internationally acclaimed composer, music producer and arranger with the skills, equipment and passion to create exciting music that appeals to a wide-ranging audience. He is dedicated to new, innovative work whilst expanding and enriching the boundaries of contemporary music. Being both a composer and music producer/mixer his music is delivered at the highest professional level and combines the best of emotional sound design fused with poignant orchestration.
Wernher has also composed for television and theatre in the UK ("Posh Lot", Channel 4)) and written the music for "Vincent", a critically acclaimed music drama on the life of Vincent van Gogh, the soundtrack distributed in London's West End and on Broadway in New York. A major concert of the score was performed on Brisbane's South bank by the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra. Wernher was also the subject of a nationally screened documentary in the UK entitled 'Roll Over Lloyd Webber".
He is also one of Australia's most successful music producers with thirteen new albums, not to mention twenty two EP's and over thirty singles for a variety of artists. His work regularly appears on YouTube, Rage, Triple J and Triple M and in record shops and on-line distributors. In London, Wernher produced many artists at Britannia Row (ex Pink Floyd studio) where he was a music producer and Director.
Wernher believes in highly marketable entertainment, drawing upon years of skill in composition, performance and production to deliver emotionally charged music in most contemporary styles. He combines strong communication skills with an intuitive understanding of his client’s requirements and deadlines. A classically trained guitarist and orchestral arranger he writes and produces music that is dramatic and exciting yet accessible to audiences of all ages. Wernher composes at Great Music, a powerful state of the art recording studio in Brisbane, Australia and is currently composing the score for epic new Australian feature film "The 34th Battalion", directed by Luke Sparke and produced by Mandie Messenger. My life in music… "I started making music at the age of five on the recorder, followed by trumpet and later the classical guitar. I loved these instruments but always felt something was missing. It was not until I took up electric guitar as a young man in rock bands that I discovered the raw power and energy that amplification could deliver. In the late 80's when clunky sequencer boxes and computers, such as the venerable Atari ST emerged, along with early synthesisers I realised that I had access to even more power and energy! In the 90's I grew bored with charging round stages in different countries in bands and learned to compose using more powerful computers and synths, which was fun because I had been thrown out of music at high school because they said I had no talent! As a child I listened to works by Grieg, Beethoven, Mozart and Vaughan Williams. I guess this created a longing to make music that touched people in the same way that music makes me feel. As the technology developed I invested more and more into bigger and more flexible systems which has continually left me amazed at the stunning realism of computer generated orchestration and of the gigantic libraries needed. But I always felt a bit of a fraud just using computers to create orchestral scores so I thought it time to bite the bullet and learn how to score and arrange for a real 80 piece orchestra. I was lucky to find Phil Davis who conducted the Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra and I persuaded him to let me have some of my work performed. So began a gruelling learning curve to do the hard yards as a self taught composer to actually write and arrange full scores. The concert was a huge success and I have found even more passion in life. So for me, films that had brilliant scores made me want to compose, and so my passion grew from a dream into a reality when I was commissioned by Luke Sparke and Mandie Messenger in 2011 to write for my first major epic film "The 34th Battalion" I love darker and powerful themes and moods, and I smear my work with often haunting sound design to create a seamless collage of sound and music. I cannot believe how lucky I have been to be able to work in the music industry because for me it is not work but play! My time has been spent between the UK and Australia and I have spend my days both composing for screen and theatre and producing rock, pop and R&B for talented artists.
